This is amazing! I absolutely love your art, so it's really cool to see the process behind it ^_^
If you don't mind me asking, is there a specific brush you'd recommend for doing lineart (like in the "refine" step of the first picture)? Your lines are always so neat.

Nothing special xD I just use the most normal brush in PS. For the clouds, I prefer the brush called "Rough Round Bristle" in PS 5.
In fact I only use these 2 brushes~

Wow! This is incredible! Some of my favorite pieces by you, too. :'D How you get the inspiration to add all of those details, I will never know.
For that first piece (around "confirm the tone" - "shade"), does that shading carry on into the rest of the piece? As in, is that the same shading that we see in the final image, or do you go over the shading again, in a different color?
I hope that makes sense! I'm just so curious as to how you go about doing that - I see other artists do the same, and I've always wondered how that...works, I guess. x'D

Thank you! ^_^
Yes,the shading must carry on into the rest of the piece or it would be nonsense for this step. In PS,you can change the blend mode of the shading layer into Multiply mode. You can see in step 7, I use just the color blue with a Multiply mode and the shading color would change automatically.
I hope you understand what I said and welcome to ask me back...(It's complicate to explain in English, my PS is in Chinese!xD)

Omg that made perfect sense! I actually went to try out something similar with a blob of color + multiply and it's like a light bulb came on in my head. X'D I'm so glad I finally understand how that works now - thank you so much for explaining it! TuT

I really like the step by step labels in the top one. As someone just starting out, it helps me make a lot more sense of what's going on. Does this workflow transfer well to traditional paper media, or is it a strictly digital one?
