Bestioleterre is a pocket dimension, notable for its giant arthropod-like fauna, and the knightly warriors who use them as mounts. These knights, known as scarabiers, ride creatures that resemble horse-sized beetles, and follow a code of conduct known as scarabry, which requires them to show strength, courage and prowess in battle, to be loyal to their liege lord, and to defend the weak and vanquish the wicked.

The common people of Bestioleterre are primarily farmers, who work the fertile lands and rear the giant insects for food and other uses. They are simple and hardworking folk, who greatly respect the scarabiers and their code.

Nyx Nova Interdimensional Pirate Captain and her crew are forced to take refuge in Bestioleterre after their attempt to rob The Wormhole Express goes sideways and their dimension-hopping ship sustains heavy damage. They find themselves caught in the middle of a conflict between the rulers of Bestioleterre, the House of Chitine, and the traitorous House of Araignée and their Widow Queen.
