Xis is an ancient being who has expanded his consciousness to the point where a single, biological brain can no longer house it. His consciousness is now spread across a network of synthetic "exobrains" that orbit him like electrons around a nucleus, kept afloat by miniature electromagnetic repulsors.

This network of minds works in concert, creating a gestalt intelligence far greater than the sum of its parts. The collective power of the many minds of Xis allows him to store and process information at an incredible rate, granting a level of computational power that rivals some of the most powerful artificial consciousnesses.

He has a reputation as the multiverse's best "problem solver," since he is capable of seeing solutions to complex problems that others cannot. However, he is known for a certain cold, calculating logic that fails to account for the value of individual lifeforms; his solution to a problem might involve the loss of billions of lives, if it's the simplest and most effective option.

He has little to no interest in material wealth. Instead, he derives his satisfaction from solving ever-greater problems. Here, we see him in his sanctuary on Xindaq, contemplating the existential threat posed by The Scourge ; their relentless pursuit of perfection and order represents a problem more complex and fascinating than any he has faced before.
