This character started life as a joke...I was goofing around with the idea of a trilobite-themed superhero, purely for my own amusement, but something about the final image seemed kind of tragic and lonely. More importantly, it seemed to demand a backstory.

It's still WIP, but for now I'm seeing the character as an eco-terrorist who wages campaigns of sabotage against mining companies that are dumping toxic waste in the world's oceans and industrial fishing companies that are emptying the seas of life. He emerges from the sea to destroy their equipment and shut down their operations before vanishing back into the water, always without uttering a word.

He doesn't target people, but he doesn't pull his punches if anyone tries to stop him.

Maybe he's from an underwater city of Trilobite People who are sick of humans trashing their ocean home. Maybe he's an engineering genius who designed and built the Trilobite Underwater Combat Suit himself.

Like humans, trilobites were once abundant and widespread across the Earth, but were wiped out by the Great Dying at the end of the Permian, which is thought to have been caused by volcanic eruptions emitting large amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. No matter how successful a species is, they're always vulnerable to dramatic climatic shifts.
