Description
Some would have you believe that a unicorn can only be tamed by a virgin woman with a pure heart, that her innocence will calm its wild nature and it will lay its head on her lap and fall asleep.Β
This is a lie, spread by unicorns.Β
In the remote, rural areas of Garmyda, far from the great cities like Vermistad, Palangard and Berenord, where civilization gives way to untamed wilderness, there resides a different breed of unicorn - creatures of pure malice, feared and shunned by the local population.
It is said that, because of their purity and grace, these creatures once served as sin-eaters; when a person died, a unicorn would appear, drawn to the spiritual stain left behind by the deceased's sins. It would consume the spiritual corruption, thereby cleansing the dead person's soul.
Over time, the sins took a toll. Gradually, the unicorns became twisted and malevolent, infected by the sins they consumed. Now, they hunger for the souls of pure-hearted virgins, believing that consuming them will help cleanse some of the corruption that festers within. Thus, they roam the remote landscapes, whispering temptations and seeking out the unsuspecting and the virtuous.
Instead of healing, their touch brings sickness and their horns, once believed to possess the power to cure, now poison anything they come into contact with.
Certain unscrupulous unicorn hunters are not above using innocent young women as bait for these sinister creatures, luring the unicorns into carefully laid ambushes, with little or no regard for the safety of the unwitting maidens.
