Hopefully I'm not being annoying with all these unfinished things, but coloring has gotten on the way. Anyways, I was watching the old quasi-documentary Threads, and was inspired to do something like this. Don't really want to add more because I like having vagueness in whatever I do.
Changed my way of working too. I'm now working with blobs of colors instead of doing any sketch before. Colors deserved a bigger role.
Will keep updating as I go.

The white figures are seriously the best part of this. It immediately has me asking questions. The colors are beautiful, but I'm having trouble moving through the picture. The contrast is so varied throughout that it's making the focal point a little muddy. The figures jump out immediately because they're so high contrast against the other colors, but the rest of the painting looks very strikly midground because of the contrast being high. I'd suggest pushing somethings back more atmospherically (which you've started to do but it's not enough yet) and adding some sort of simple foreground element to frame the painting a little. (I think the biggest issue is the dark values in the top right corner. They're really stealing the show and I don't think they should. It might benefit to lighten it up and push it back.)
I really love this so far, can't wait to see it finished. The color scheme is so eye-catching, and the way you painted those rocks is great. Looks really simple and clean.

ahh this is sooo beautiful and inspiring!
When I look at it, it looks like it is so fun to paint and all the brushstrokes just make so much sense!
(and when I go to try, I feel very lost when painting backgrounds XD )
I really like the white silhouettes too!!! They stand out so nicely yet they suit the picture really well!

Leave the people part blank! Looks like ghosts in a sense! Love the colors, reminds me of some of the art from Jade Empire a bit.
