Description
This was my Demo piece for the recent Exhibition held at Toowong, Brisbane and I have two before photos to show off soon in my scraps
He looks almost everensent (sp?) thus his title
This is Graphite on 300g hotpress (Arches) and measures 21x17 inches.... 2 full... and I mean full (not including sketching) days of work went into this!

Thank you very much! The reference photo was wonderful to work from so I cannot take credit!
The hair was helped by having a 'sharpened' eraser to pull the hair highlights out, helping the look!

Fantastic. It's just so realistic. I'd have liked to see a bit more contrast on the horse, in order to make it stand out just a little more from the background, but other than that I can't see anything to critique. The grass and the tail is great

It's a very noble beast, that's for sure. I really like the pose and the sepia tones to the colouring; also the shadow on the grass. How did you go at the exhibition Caroline?

The sepia tones actually came from the artificial lighting I used to take the photo

The exhibition went well, I sold quite a few prints and LE prints, and of course there was the publicity of it all... having said that I wouldn't do it again (wrong time of year in the wrong place).. I didn't shift any originials, and only a few of the participating artists did.. I benefit better selling them through my regular galleries and online. Still everything is an experience.
