Description
As my 100th deviation I present you The Astronomer, something to symbolize the curiosity and heart that I look for in art.In a mission to prepare Mars for an human team, the AI robot named Astronomer is sent together with a scientific base, where it recharges and uploads his discoveries on Mars. Its design is made so dust storms can't affect its mechanisms, since it is smooth and without exposed crevasses. The head has a solar panel, but it also has a long-life battery attached to the back (lasting for a week of constant walking).
The intelligence of Astronomer is similar to a curious adolescent, but more motivated to work. The Devil Cameras are drones designed to repair Astronomer in case of malfunctions, scan areas ahead and film Astronomer's actions. During sandstorms, they reside in the special places on its arms.
Other Art: Drifting in space

Hello, I a member of Project Comment. I would like to critique this fantastic piece of Sci-fi art you've created. There will be pros and not cons, but opinions! Lets start with the pros. Points for originality. I can tell right away that this comes off a totally organic creation harvested from the fields of your mind. Some really good line work and shading here. I love that it appears almost as though there's an expression on the robots face. This gives it personality and a very humanistic feel. The little drone is very cute and I like the fact that it looks like the robot is in mid stride. I think that you clearly took a good deal of time creating the concept and the intricacies of the back story and how they relate to the work itself. Onto the suggestions. I feel the piece lacks detail in certain aspects or regards. I would like to see stars in the sky or something other than just the empty space. I would also like to see more texture or highlights or something on the smooth parts of the robot. The lines and shading in the upper left corner confuse my eye. Not quite sure if that is a signature or something else. The only other issue I see is the shadow on the moon should possibly be on the opposite side per the light source (the sun) appears to be coming from the right in the rest of the piece. All in all this is a great work though and please don't think for a second that I am not impressed and feel the passion and extreme creativity you have poured into this fun, adventurous, though provoking drawing.

Thanks a lot for the critique! I quite wanted some critiques, so your comment is really helpful. I agree I was lazy about the sky. The moon is based on one of Mars' moons that has a weird blue spot on it and I couldn't make it work here. And yeah, that's my signature in the corner, sorry if it's confusing. I also appreciate the compliments a lot!

Wow, this is amazing congratulations on your one hundredth deviation! The shading and landscape in this drawing are great, and I absolutely love how you drew the robots. Not only do you have a well-drawn drawing of them, but also a unique and obviously well thought out story behind the entire picture! Keep up the great work and I hope you keep making fantastic and creative art works like these in the future! The only thing I'd tell you to work on is how the blank the sky is- maybe add in some dust clouds or stars? Other then that, this is perfect
(just a Lil critique ^w^

Thanks for the compliments! Yeah, I made the sky kind of blanc because I didn't think of any good ways of filling it, thanks for the idea tho.
