Another step-by-step process, this time of a piece commissioned byThe description went as follows: "A knight which is the protector and tormentor of the souls in the circle of Gluttony." Pretty interesting stuff!
I used the same method I recently tested with my last painting, The Gift of the Angels . That is, first a rough sketch, then detailed "ink" lines, then flat colors based on a somewhat improvised palette. After that, I kinda turn off the lights, and then start painting the highlights, turning the lights back on little by little. Then it's just a matter of blurring, adding shadows where needed, and detailing. I'm enjoying using this way of approaching illustrations so far, and really liking the results!
Still need to detail it a bit more to call it finished, but it's almost there.

Glad it shows!! I've been trying to synthesize a method I feel comfortable with for a long time, and I think this is it. Just needs a few tweaks, which I will apply on future paintings.

Me too.. I absolutely love those games.. Especially the lore.. If I could do cosplays.. Definitely would choose a theme out of those.. And yeah. I couldnt play bloodborne too.. And DS3 too bcs of my pc.

Oh, I bought a graphic card the day they announced DS3 and it was totally worth it. Still love DS1 better, but 3 was quite an experience. Bloodborne seems absolutely amazing, I hope some day they'll release it on PC but I doubt it.
I'm thinking of doing some fanart of the Dark Souls bosses; never did fanart before but I feel this might be the perfect excuse!
