Hey, rest assured you did not discover a new species. I research mites, but a colleage of mine works on Coccinellids, I showed him the picture because I was curious about this strange Coccinellid. He said that it is in fact Halyzia sexdecimpunctata, he also said it was a surperb photo. It is a common British species.
