Copic Tutorial I:[link]

That's it, this totally proves that I'm a masochist to the extreme.

If you think the last tutorial was long...pffft. IT IS NOTHING COMPARED TO THIS BEAST. This is at least double the size of the last one D:

I made a poll awhile back asking people what they'd like to see most in my next tutorial. Out of the options I gave, I got mostly inking, hair, background, coloring large areas, blending, and a whole lot of "EVERYTHING!".

You guys got your wish. I included EVERYTHING

This isn't ALL of the steps (I think I left out at least 1/3 of it), but these are probably the most useful stuff to put in a tutorial.

I hope this will be helpful and that you guys can get something out of this! (If not, I would be terrible sad). I tried not to repeat myself from the last tutorial and go over new things. So yeah, let me know if it helps. I will be very happy :B

Have fun!

just curious, i just got a set of copics for christmas and since i work with colored pencil i don't have to worry about lineartpens and stuff too much, do you think that the Sakura Micron Pens would work with these?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

twoboatsataparadox In reply to Tayaspirits [2013-01-18 05:20:10 +0000 UTC]

I use the Sakura microns with copics. They work perfectly fine, just make sure you wait long enough for it to dry completely.

i now this doesn't have to do with the tutorial but yeah~ I am planning on buying some copics and i wanted to ask for your opinion. For beginners (i mean ABSOLUTE beginners) is it better to buy a different brand to start with? I have a sorta strict budget so if i do buy copics, should i go with ciao or sketch? And last, can you suggest some outlining pens?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PauliWee In reply to ZoronoaKim [2012-08-21 15:42:34 +0000 UTC]

Sorry, I'm not the one who you ask,
but.
I think it's better for begginers to start with diffrent brand - maybe you find one that would be good enough and you will stay with it?
And, maybe you will find you even don't like to colour with markers x'D
The procedure is same for all markers, by the way C:
For strict budget go with ciao, it's cheap and I in my opinion it has got better colour.
But you must buy a new one when you don't have ink. And you can't airbrush with it.
When you will be better in colouring with copics, buy sketch, because you can change the ink C:
Copic multiliner is good outlining pen C:

And good other brands with similiar markers are stylefile and molotow C:

Brilliant tutorial (and gorgeous picture!)! I recently bought lots of copic markers in Japan and I'm afraid to use them... I honestly have no idea how to- so this is a massive help. I'm used to colouring with colouring pencils which have a blend-ability- is it the same for copic markers? they don't act like typical markers, do they?- as you mention you can blend before they dry? How thick do you recommend the paper should be?
Again, brilliant tutorial, I feel like busting them out now and having a go!
