In a Erin Hunter chatroom it said that they killed off Spottedleaf a second time so Firestar wouldn't have to choose between her and Sandstorm in StarClan.

"Mapleshade had Sandstorm pinned. Spitting furiously, Sandstorm struggled, but couldn't break the dead she-cat's grip. "You're lucky, Sandstorm! You have kits and a mate that love you! I should've had all that!" the vicious she-cat's mew was almost a wail. "So if I can't have it, neither can you!" at that moment, a dappled figure leapt from the shadows onto Mapleshade. Dovewing tilted her head. It wasn't any ThunderClan cat, but it was ThunderClan scent. "Spottedleaf! What are you doing? She stole Firestar from you!" Mapleshade growled, pinned under the young medicine cat. "No she didn't!" the tortoiseshell replied simply, "She made him happy," Spottedleaf's gaze softened as she turned towards Sandstorm. "In fact, I don't know how to thank her." Mapleshade snarled and slashed the medicine cat with her lengthened claws. "Unluckily for you," Mapleshade began. "I'm not much of a sucker for sob stories."
Firestar sat up, ears clawed by Mapleshade. His ears perked and his eyes filled with horror. Firestar rushed over and collapsed at her side. "Spottedleaf! Don't die! You promised you'd wait for me!" he wailed. Spottedleaf's voice cracked, purred she replied, "Love, it was never meant to be." blood poured from her wounds. "Goodbye... foreve-" the medicine cat froze for a moment. "Spottedleaf? Spottedleaf!" Firestar wailed. Spottedleaf had vanished. Furious, Firestar sat up. He would avenge his previous love." (The Last Hope)

Really? I mean. Are you serious? Freaking Erins kill off a good character for such a lame reason? We all knew Firestar would end up choosing Sandstorm anyway; At one point he felt 'kitty love' for Spotted, but by the end of his life it's obvious his heart lies with Sandstorm.
It's good though! Much better then what I can do.. ;.;

Yes, but it's obvious that Firestar would choose Sandstorm. And if he for some reason doesn't, Spottedleaf would've forced him to be with Sandstorm. cx
Point is, it was stupid to kill Spottedleaf so that Firestar wouldn't have to make a decision where the answer was obvious.

I like all 3 Fire ships but SpottedXFire is my least favorite. I love Spottedleaf's character don't get me wrong. I will show you the places for my fire ships
SandXFire being first
and CinderXFire being just below SandXFire. CinderXFire would be first if I hadn't stumbled upon CinderXScourge. Thats basicly shipping my favorite she-cat with my favorite tom.
