"Nightmask."
The taller, bulkier tom bore down on Nightmask; his dark blue eyes flashing in the low-light. Adderstrike had spoken his name politely, as a greeting, but knowing well of Adderstrike's opinion of him, he couldn't help but hear it in a condescending manner.
"Adderstrike..." Nightmask replied back, his voice wavering a bit. He hated to admit it, but he was fearful of Adderstrike. He knew what he was capable of and how he felt towards warriors "like him". Nightmask wasn't one of the most influential figures in the clan and he certainly wasn't the strongest. He knew his "weak, gentle heart" always came back to bite him. Most of the time he tried to ignore this, feeling that being decent was better than being tough, but cats like Adderstrike always made this difficult.
When he realized Adderstrike hadn't moved out of the way and only continued to stare at him with his icy, silent eyes, Nightmask's blood ran cold. Did he want something? Was he going to call him out about something he did? Nightmask gulped - ...Oh God, did he find out--
But Adderstrike merely grunted and broke the tense stare down, moving past Nightmask and making the bushes rustle as his wide frame brushed the leaves. Nightmask let out a breath and continued on his way, shivering and feeling shame prickle at his pelt.
