Description I took this photo way back on May 2006. Sometimes I spend more time thinking of a title for my photos than I do taking the actual photo. I originally titled this photo "How Do I Find You?" as a temporary title and actually had this up on my old profile until I decided to take it down. I had no idea what I meant by my original title. It didn't make sense to me. So I got rid of it. Whenever I can't think of a title, I place the photo as my desktop wallpaper until I can think of one. After much staring, thinking, sleeping, dreaming, waking and eating I thought I'd take a break from trying to name this one. After about a week or even months I decided to focused more on school so I can get things done and over with. School is actually ending very soon for me and I'm at this point where I'm afraid I won't know what to do when I'm done. Sometimes we are set on this path to a specific goal and even though I know what my goal is, I'm not entirely sure how to get there...

After thinking about where I'm supposed to go I found myself back at this photograph and thought to myself again...where am I supposed to go? What else is out there?

...

The process of this photo was pretty simple, but I feel that the concept may actually be more complex than I originally intended. That's how I wanted the title of this photo be; to contain a simple feeling, but with a complex thought.

Hope you guys like it

these photos remind me alot of Rene Magritte's work. He was working with the idea that what you are looking at is a representation, when we lot at a photo we forget it is a photo and think we are looking at the sea or whatever. He (and you) reminds us that we are in fact looking at a photo/painting of the sea. or a photo of a photo of the sea. He was also really into the idea of the mental universe. The fact that we can not ever really see reality only our own mental representation of it. Nice work!!
cheers Jennie

that is so ironic that you mentioned him, because my friend and I were just talking about him not too long ago, but I never really noticed a similarity between some of my photos and some of his paintings until you mentioned it to me. I had just taken this [link] picture yesterday if you'd like to see it

Anyway, thanks for the comment I really appreciate it

The photo's kind of a mindtrip. My eyes seem to want to dissolve the border and for a moment it succeeds and there's that view, adrift in the ocean. But then my focus snaps back to reality and I see the polaroid, the hand, and suddenly, what was is no longer. You're right about it being simple, yet complex. Very well done. I'm liking this mini-series.

thank you! I was always trying to experiment with my polaroids, but it's hard sometimes. I plan on doing more like this in the near future

You take polaroids to a whole new level. And I certainly look forward to each new work!
