Description
According to a definition provided by Wikipedia [link]A Beholder is an aberration comprised of a floating spheroid body with a large fanged mouth and single eye on the front and many flexible eyestalks on the top; it was once described as "a big eye with a bunch of little eyes that eats adventurers for breakfast".
A beholder's eyes each possess a different magical ability; the main eye projects an anti-magical cone, and the other eyes use different spell-like abilities ( disintegrate objects, transmute flesh to stone, cause sleep, slow motion of objects, charm animals, charm humans, cause death, induce fear, levitate objects, and cause serious wounds. ). Many variant beholder species exist, such as "observers", "spectators", "eyes of the deep", "elder orbs", "hive mothers", and "death tyrants". In addition, some rare beholders can use their eyes for non-standard spell-like abilities; these mutant beholders are often killed or exiled by their peers. Beholders wishing to cast spells like ordinary wizards relinquish the traditional use of their eyestalks, and put out their central anti-magic eye, making these beholder mages immediate outcasts
Yes I am a nerd! These things are badass and are always a pain to defeat when you've been hacking and slashing away all night through dark and dank dungeons.
All nerding aside, this was a Wacom excercise, I haven't done anything really serious in Photoshop since my Wonder Woman [link] so I hope you all enjoy it!

I'm a big Spelljammer fan and the beholder races of wildspace come all have genetic variations that makes them look different to each other. This fuels their xenophobia, and each clan tries to destroy the other "mutant" beholders.

I'm pretty big fan of the D&D monster lineup. And pretty much anything Fantasy to tell you the truth.

Great job. This reminds me of that floating eye thing in the movie Big Trouble in Little China. This is much cooler though.

Great drawing. The mouth and slime make it look powerful. Which game is it from.

It's from pretty much every dungeon crawler game out there. It's originally from the D&D series but it shows up in Champions of Norrath, Baldurs Geat and Forgotten Realms.
