Nickname: the Beast of Gévaudan ( Named after the legend )

Behavior: The Spiked Beasts live in france. These are an endangered species of meat eating pigs that have a population estimated around 200 or 300 in france, From what we can tell these creatures are solitary creatures and use their massive jaws to crush the skulls of their prey. They mainly feed off of the torso with them going with their favorite meal being the heart. The reason as to why they have quills is unknown and whether or not they have a use at all currently it is hypothesized that they are to defend themselves from surprise attacks from its own species.

Discovery: It is believed that this creature spawned the legend of the Beast of Gévaudan which was a man eating wolf that was first reported around 1764 at first it was a legend but now we know the cause. Which are these carnivorous super pigs that were discovered during in a hiking trip with one of the tourists taking a picture before it ran away. After a few months Another tourist was brutally murdered by a strange beast with one of them being able to escape being fatally wounded describing a "spiked wolf". Then it was decided to hunt the beast with weeks of failure they finally were successful at both finding and tranquilizing it

They brought its body into a cage for research and with one of the scientists surprised with its similarities with the legend hence it's name. Little is known about its behavior and its origins. All we know is how it kills and eats with further research being needed.
