Description
I know I'm posting many Kylo Ren drawings lately -- he is just so wonderful to draw, I am not sure why. Maybe the flowing fabric and hair, the pale angular face - similar to my ideal of beauty if I could become such a person myself. I have thought about the particular archetype which he belongs to, a similar one to Loki, Zuko, and maybe even Snape. I had a fondness for such characters ever since I was a child and I notice that many others do too. Just some curious thoughts...In this drawing I imagine that he has run away from the "dark" and the "light" side to follow his own path. I see him in a winter forest or a snowy tundra walking on and on with a bittersweet and scared emotion.

Once again, excellent work.
Kylo Ren is such a fascinating character, and yes, he's so beautiful. I'd love to see him follow his own path in the movies.

Thank you!
I am curious too about what will direction the story-line will take him in. I have a feeling that he will eventually drift away from Snoke or else end tragically.

Your style is so wonderful, I love your work.
That's exactly what I thought when I first saw the character, he has such powerful yet conflicting aura.
I find this concept of yours really great. That reminds me of someone who headcanoned him as a 'grey sith'
making his own decisions and creating his own path by mixing light and dark.
The soft brushes and colors give him a vulnerable look. Beautiful.

So beautiful!!!! I too love Loki, and Zuko, and Snape! What would we call this Archetype that is so devoted, so conflicted, so ambiguous, and yet will persevere through any obstacle to achieve what they believe is right? You capture Kylo Ren (and this particular type of character) gorgeously!

In an odd way I like that in movies some of the characters are left quite open to interpretation, we do not get to know their deeper thoughts or memories very well and so we can imagine more depth to them and create our own stories around them. Often it is a story's world or setting that is the beginning of the inspiration for me. Which characters are you captivated by? What are they like when you imagine them?

Thank you for your thoughtful reply, it was interesting to read your perspective. I am not too familiar with some of the characters you have mentioned but I would be curious to look them up. I feel the same way about some commissions, when I do not connect too much with the subject matter -- but there are some which I was very fond of doing (like the samurai painting when I was fascinated by ancient Japanese ink artwork -- after reading the Tale of Genji, I still have a few chapters left). Hannibal was an amazing series, I do not enjoy many films in the horror genera but that series was exceptional -- very fascinating complex characters. I think it is natural to emulate fictional characters, or archetypes. Even for real life role models, we only see a version of them that is almost archetypal. The saying "life imitates art" comes to mind. It is wonderful to live imaginatively. I hope that you may find much peace and light in your life in the coming years.
