Waist Skirt Tutorial: casuallydisregarding.deviantar…

**EDIT**
Depending on how tight you make the two thigh straps, they have a tendency to wiggle their way down your leg when walking around..to fix this HEM TAPE/DOUBLE SIDED FABRIC TAPE! Put some hem tape on the backs of the straps and basically tape them to your pants. They should stay in place most if not all of the convention.

i was just wondering, how do you take it off?

You pretty much take it off by reversing the putting on process. First you take off the waist skirt, then you un-connect the bottom part of the belts, take those off, then undo the top part of the belts. There is nothing special about it really.

the grey squares are made out of the same material as the grey back part thing in part 1 of the tutorial..its like a grey pleather sort of thing...i have no idea what the name of the fabric is but any thickish grey material should work

My friend and I are both working on cosplays for fem Armin and fem Levi, and we didn't know how we were going to do this part! This was so helpful, and now I don't have to buy it! Also, can I ask you what pleather is? I'm unfamiliar with the term and want to know all that I can before going and actually working on it.

Pleather is fake leather. It looks and feels like leather but it is thinner, cheaper, and easier to work with then leather. Not to mention it is a fuck ton easier to move around in then leather. And pleather can be stretchy which helps for having the belts stay up on your legs and not end up around your ankles by the end of the con/meetup/photoshoot ect. I'm so glad this has been able to help you guys ^u^

I'm working on my own cosplay at the moment and this is SUPER helpful as a reference. I'm actually using thick elastic for all the straps so they have give and will stay where I put them. Awesome tutorial

Hello! Around how much was the brown pleather material?
And how much did you spend in all to make the harness?

CasuallyDisregarding In reply to mini-moose7 [2014-01-08 17:48:03 +0000 UTC]
um... from the place I bought my fabric it was about $7 per yard but it can get pretty expensive. In total I think I spent about $51 total.

I have kind of a dumb question~ ^^ Is it hard to get the thigh belts to stay up on your legs or are they pretty secure? I'm trying to decide if I need to get actual buckles to tighten them to my legs c:
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
CasuallyDisregarding In reply to mackbutler3 [2013-12-23 19:46:11 +0000 UTC]
Actual buckles would be the easiest. since i used slip buckles and the fabric that i got is kinda stretchy i just have Velcro to keep them from getting undone. you have to make them really tight to keep them from slipping down, or you could use hem tape and tape them to the pants.

the place that i got my pleather will only help you if you live in the San Jose area in California. I go to a place called Fabrics R Us that is on 1745 Berryessa Rd. They have good quality fabric and its cheap. Others i know of have bought from JoAnns which might be more helpful. Though JoAnns is pretty expensive
