This could actually pave the way for a redemption arc for Cassia and Clove.
Headcanon: Cassia gets severely damaged on a mission for the Eggman Empire, but is found by the Freedom Fighters (specifically Tails) and is offered to get fixed up, thus opening the door for complicated relationships and an ultimate redemption arc.
