Done in Open Canvas 3.03 + Painter IX + Photoshop 7.0.... Finally got this done..... took me almost 2 weeks from start to finish... got too much distraction on the way, not to mention this pic is so bloody huge that it took me a hell of a long time to ink and paint.... x_x
Anyway, fanart of Adol (red guy) and Isha (blue girl) from the game "Ys VI - The Ark of Napishtim". The pic is inspired by the first boss encounter in the game + the boss music (titled "Mighty Obstacle"
) You can see the scene + the music I'm talking about in this game trailer here: [link] (some other trailer that would show up before the actual game trailer, and you may have to refresh the browser after that random trailer in order to see the actual trailer) This pic has actually been floating in my mind for quite some time (almost a year now...) but I didn't actually get to put it down on canvas until now.....Oh and yah, I realised there are a few million mistakes in this pic, but I didn't noticed a lot of them until I've coloured the pic in.... x_x Damn, a pic can look so different when it's coloured.....
Urgh.... My hand needs a break..... *floats away*

i swear this is my favorite game...
the entire series were truly unappreciated and underrated.
it was the first from the Ys series i ever played and i was instantly in love with it.
i played it and i played it again and again, over and over with an honest to god smile of satisfaction of my face
and i'll do it AGAIN
god looking at this and considering that not many had the privilege of playing this game, for you to take consideration enough to take time to draw this shows you're a decent fan!

Wow...perfectly captures that essence of when Adol deflects what would've been a fatal blow on Isha aside with his Long Sword, then implores Isha to get away while he battles Demi Galba all by himself! Very well done!

Wow, I didn't know that there are a lot of Ys fans 'round here.
I played the game sometime during november-december 2009, (yeah I know, I'm kind of behind when it comes to rpgs)
and finished it during the christmas eve of 2009. :3
The story and ending was great, and I wanted more!
Good thing Xseed released Ys Seven and Ys : The Oath in Felghana for the PSP, and will release Ys 1 & 2 Chronicles for the PSP (again, but who cares!?)
this February, which is good for those who haven't played the original Ys yet (like me!).
When I fought this boss, I tried jumping and attacking it's head, but I got demolished quite easily. DX
On my second try, I found out that attacking is belly actually deals more damge than hitting its head!!

Nice work! I'm a big fan of the Ys games, and I just love this. Currently, I am working on a drawing of Adol, but I don't see all the coloring and stuff done for a couple days yet. But anyway, that was off topic, this is just really nice fan art. Keep it up!

very nice.. them looking up with the looming shadow is very intimidating and i can almost hear the battle music starting in my head lol and i don't even know the game at all... but you captured the moment very well is what i'm trying to say... very nice colors too.. the background is fantastic without taking away from the characters or the looming figure we can't see which is the focus of the drawing.. very nice!
