Because it's her birthday!!! Go spam her dA account with cakes :D
I made this animation last night to experiment with several frames before I'm actually going to start an official music animation. I've never made a drawn animation before. So far, ~EatToast is the only one who knows what exactly I'm going to create. Since I was able to discuss with her some ideas, this is dedicated to her.
First drew a random eye and made 7 other frames. In total, this animation has 12 frames.
All frames were drawn on a single super thin A4 paper with HB pencil. Shiny drawing table with spotlights used!
No references. About 3 hours of time.
EYE FACTS

LOL I think little yellow eye popping emoticon uses a lot more if he keeps popping like that all day long.
I'll be working on more sometime. These were just sketches. My plans for the 3 minte animation will require a lot more detail and realism!

Nice, it reminds me of some music videos I see where the characters/artwork is drawn in detail in each frame for this kind of effect, and I always think "man it would have taken forever to do that"

Aww yes, Richard Williams is a great example for that. There's this 3 minute animation of his on YouTube which took about 2000 to 3000 frames to draw

Yes, a ton of work, but it's worth it - I love artistic and original video clips to songs...so much more interesting than just the typical "footage of the band playing on stage" thing

No problem, its nice to see you using a medium you are excellently skilled in within a broader spectrum. i hope you learn a lot about animation an enjoy the process of creating it, i would love to see more animation out of you.
Another random eye fact: If you remove the lens of an eye or have it replaced with an artificial one, you would be able to see ultra violate light!
