I'm not blond, for instance...
Melody is my most beloved character. Maybe because she reflects to who I am, or who I used to be...
I didn't use a single reference image, except for a picture of myself, so I could give her some features of mine.
It doesn't look completely like me, just parts of it.
Exactly what I had in mind.

Want to know a bit about her story?
Melody, an ancient creature and distant relative of Nora , has the gift to heal people with her sacred voice.
However, her heart got broken by someone she held dear, to whom she had given her heart to.
It's her curse to live without sound, as well as her voice, until the one with a pure voice will sing her ancient melody.
The only melody that can give her hearing back.
The hymn of love that is long forgotten... Is there still anyone who remembers this song?

That is a nice piece of work. I love the feeling in her eyes. She look sad and almost broken apart. But still, a part of her is like trying to fight everything that is breaking her down. To me, she express sadness but also a desire to be free, to fight back.
You are increasing your abilities. I know that drawing from reference image is a hard deal. It is not easier then creating from imagination, it is actually something else. The fact that you are able to draw reference image, to use your experience in reference makes it easier to draw original characters. You sum up a lot of experience and now you can express truly your feeling with those kind of drawing.
And again I write a lot but can help it when it is you. I would feel bad to leave short comment to such beautiful drawing

This . . . this makes me want to watch The Little Mermaid II. That was my favorite movie of all time when I was little. I wonder where the computer game for that went too . . .

Anywai, time to put some point into this comment. -rolls up sleeves-
I really love all the minute details such as the beads, the dried tears, and the way the hair curls. The detail put in the shells is amazing as well. And the overall picture is just beautiful.
-ahems- Now, I'm going to go out on a limb here and attempt constructive critiscm. -cannot do it very well-
Although I do love the style of the hair, especially the way it curls, I think it looks a bit too blocky, almost anime style-ish. I think it needs to be broken apart a bit more, a little looser and not so glued together.
Blond hair is very hard to shade without making it look too dark however, so I congratulate you on that. \=^.^=/

Wonderful as always! You have such lovely work. The shading is fantastic. I love the vacant look on her face. Such a hard resolve. Just sort of captures the nothingness one feels after crying their eyes out. Also, I second the wonderful hair comment...or is it third? Keep up the amazing work.

hmm yes she's supposed to have a sad gaze, which was quite hard to get. I spent many hours in trying to make it look this way, but in the end it worked out well.
