Description
...Aww Jake's shown in this tutorial. Didn't realize it until now. At least he'll help showing you how to draw fur.As promised part 2 of the tutorial.
Part 1 can be found here: Detailed Hair part 1 !!!
I decided I won't make any more tutorials in the (near) future, unless someone pays me to make them.
I have no in-comings, and I spent many hours in creating this. I really love to help you guys, but c'mon
And people take it for granted I create these things. My eye tutorial got almost 3000 downloads while it has a little more than 1000 faves. That's not fair.
Okay, end of drama. I'm just a little upset at the moment.
Hope you'll enjoy this tutorial.

Your tutorials are absolutely amazing. The only gap is lips and mouths! ( which you do really, really well, btw) Perhaps someday you can do a lips and mouth tutorial?

thanks so much for your brilliantly detailed tutorials. they are by far one of, if not the, best and most useful i have ever come accross. they're also very inspiring - i've picked up pencils lately more than my tablet pen, which is saying something .
(and the feather 'stem' is called a shaft)

Hiii, this was really interesting to read..!! Thanks for showing It answered so many questions I had... I started using pen as a medium and even though your tutorials are for pencil, it's still been soso useful.. thank you...These tutorials must have driven you crazy..since they were time consuming.. but .. drawing is time consuming too .. >< hmmm i'm just blabbing.. but my main point: Thanks !!! and.. your feather drawing and fur..and others that you said might not have looked as good as your drawings in your gallery... are LIES.. they were perfect or extremely realistic in my eyes. ^^
Reading these made me want to draw more too.. and improve..and have fun hehee .. I will definitely try these !!
Oh and I'll just comment here since I don't really want to comment on all your tutorials hehe.
[ I bet once I press send.. I'll have things I forgot to say ><]

It's all helpful to me. I added some of your stuff to fav's a long time ago and have noticed a difference in my own drawings since. I have a long way to go (mostly because I work in full color a lot), but every image you put up helps. So when you do get a book out, I'm more than willing to buy it.

No offense, but I think you're getting few favs because it's not really a tutorial! you basically say that you "just" draw hair by hair, and give a couple of tips.
But questions remain: how do you get the lines so nice and tidy and parallell? A ruler, perhaps (I'm guessing that you don't)? Do you plan in advance where the individual hairs will cross or do you use a rubber? etc, things you probably give for granted.
Problem is that most of the people that ask for tips are probably those that don't have the level to actually put all this into practice. They look for ways to simplify their lives, not for ways to be more accurate at the expense of effort.
The sad truth in your case is that it's all really about skill and practice, there's no way around. The good news is that this shows just how skilled you are, and how difficult it really is to copy/imitate you!

well the part you're missing is that I'm not going into detail about such things because I'm working on an artbook! If I put all the small details about I draw such things in tutorials like these, there wouldn't be a reason to publish a book, right?
Honestly I could tell people how exactly I draw every little thing: the pressure of a pencil when drawing hair, the way of blending an area without blending materials, how to get the shapes right, how you could know where to put each pencilline, etc etc etc
This is just a 'basic' thing and of course it takes a lot of practice until you know how to draw the things the way I draw them.
Besides, these are self developed techniques I'm not saying people should do it this way but follow them as guidelines.
That said I must say I do appreciate your comment. It does show you care and know what things I should do to make better tutorials! thank you

I think your tutorials are one of the best I've seen on dA, and trust me I've read a lot!
The reason is not because of the art involved, it's the structure of your explanations that incorporate humour and cheery personality while keeping it concise and straight to the point.
Although I find that good art in a tutorial is obviously good, sometimes the explanation can make or break a tutorial.
Well done and I hope that many others share my opinion!

wow... while I received quite a lot of them, that's the best compliment someone ever gave to me, thank you so much!!!
I think it's makes a tutorial more interesting by adding a little humour. A lot of times, when I read an artbook, my thoughts drifted away while reading, because the way they explain how they draw things is quite... I wouldn't say boring but... boring. When I'll publish my book, it will be a lot more different I'm glad you like it this (my) way!

Hello!
My name is Ashlee (if you can't tell by my username) and i just wanted to chat. I'm a pencil artist myself and i'm alot more confident in my pencil drawings then anything else. Well, unlike you i see, i only have a normal mechanical lead pencil. I've always wanted to make my drawings more realistic and alot better looking then they are. You're tutorials are alot of help and i reread them alot because it heps me.
Just wanted to stop by and say hello Ashlee

so don't feel sad!
