Description
My 5th tutorial's done!!!Click download to get the larger version.
I know what you're thinking:
'But... oh mighty =Cataclysm-X , why art thou submitting a tutorial which wasn't shown in thy poll?'
lol
Well... like this tutorial says: just 'cause.
Actually, I think it makes more sense if you read this tutorial before you'll see my next (upcoming) tutorials:
Besides, I'm looking for my muse. I lost it a week ago. I started with several drawings (actors, Kingdom Hearts...) but none of them look right.
Has anyone seen my muse anywhere? If you'll find it, you'll get a free cookie.
I used the work in progress files of my Jared Leto drawing to get this done.
I knew I could use those WIPs for something useful someday...
Anyway, have fun with this tutorial!! Hope you'll find it useful!!!

Very helpful tutorial. I must thank you for making it. One question though...what materials did u use for the skin? I usually have a tough time making skin look smooth and...like skin. lol! So it would be great if you could give me some tips.

How on earth do you get such clean, smooth blends with the tortialla thing, mine are always real muddy and crap, paper? pressure?

Thanks for this- Im trying to improve my portraits and this helps. Its hard to break out of some habits though that my art teacher drilled in me. If I tried doing a portrait like how you do, for example, he would've made me start all over. But Im totally going to try and do it the way you've shown in this tutorial- Thanks!

This is awesome... When I "try" to draw a "portrait", my paper is all smudgy and my fingertips are everywhere
also the "eyes first" technique is great (I always start with a shape of the face and the I cannot draw the eyes properly like here :thumb126599396
So A BIG THANKS for your tutorials and I hope I can get better by studying them

Hey, thanks for making all these tutorials, Ive been working my way through them one by one, i hvent picked up a pencil in years but youve inspired me to give it another go.
Ive also put your methods to digital, Im working on a piece at the moment of an australian model, using somecool new pencil brushes i found for photoshop and using the techniques youve shared with us.
Its comin along well but will take a long time to finish.
I dont know how to post links but the addressis below if your interested
[link]
I wont post up my real pencil sketches yet, still practising with just parts of the face and not tackling a full composition yet but I have improved on my pencil skills greatly since reading your tut's.
Cant wait to see more.
see ya

The drawing is awesome, but i didn't like the tutorial at all there is NO sketch. it's just your drawing with erased parts. no lineart, nor guides. no one can learn for this. sorry if i'm rude.

oh my Goodness! you're art is awesome! I'm maniac about painting and drawing and your work makes me lunatic! It's as if Jared is appearing in black and white on a blanked paper!
how is it that your paper is this white even after hours of working? I mean how do you start working without sketches, uh damn! I'm speechless!

ahhh this is so amazing, thank you for giving me a direction in portrait drawing. i always thot that we have to draw and sketch the entire face shape first before reli focusing on one section, and i always end up screwing up one eye of the portrait. thank you for this tutorial! ur my fave ^____^

hey hun! this is the very first time I look over your job, and gosh I really have to say I'm totallly impressed. I've never seen something like this before so decided to comment here.
can't simply stand the way you drew Jared's eyebrows... when I draw male's eyebrows I usually make them one by one, so at the end it sucks 'cause look actually like hair. Don't know if I'm explaining myself well, but I would be really pleassed to know how to make eyebrows darker like you did here :s
BTW will cover you up in faves. you're such a master!

I use to start with the eyes as well but ad been convinced to do a overall outline first. You've vindicated me and I'm going back to the eye first approach.
