Description
Chapter 4The alarm went off at 6:30 the next morning,
Israel was long gone by that time, probably left as soon as i was asleep.
I dressed and grabbed a bagel as i headed off to the Opera House.
On my way down the front stairs I passed a man dressed as the mailman, but it was way to early for the mail.
Scyther's guy.
"Morning miss," he said to me with a sinister grin.
I just stared at him for a while, it was strange seeing a random man dressed as a service man.
i kept walking, taking a bite out of my bagel.
All the while i felt like i was being watched, it suddenly dawned on me what would happened if i refused Scyther's offer.
I couldn't just say no, he'd do something.
But what could he do? All my family moved out of Scarlet long ago.
I don't even talk to most of them anymore.
At practice i could barely pay attention.
Asher, our instructer, is a pretty man to look at but he lacks the teacher inside.
Afterwards, i dropped by the library, maybe a book would free from Scyther's stress.
I was wandering around the fiction section, when i got the feeling.
You know, that feeling that theres someone watching you.
No one was there, of course, but i couldn't shake the feeling.
There was an air vent directly above me, i chuckled at the thought of someone watching me from there.
It was too Hollywood,
Too much of a cliche.
But you know how it is, once you think of something that couldn't possibly be true you start to hear noises the give you the distinct impression that in fact there is someone there.
So to delete any fears i may be getting, I looked directly up into the vent.
Of course all i saw was black nothing, but what i heard was quiet the opposite.
I could have sworn i heard someone breathing.
That was enough to run a chill down my spine.
-Get a grip on yourself-
I scolded myself.
There was nothing there, there couldn't be, but the child in me was screaming about the boogeyman and the monster under the bed, so i took a deep breath and stepped onto one of the shelves.
I didn't know what i was going to do, i stared up at the vent.
Blackness.
But I could still hear the breathing.
I reached up to the vent.
I don't now why, i just did.
Of course i couldn't reach it.
- This is silly-
It was, i was climbing book shelves to get to a locked vent, with no idea what i was going to do, all because i thought i heard breathing.
That sounds sane.
Then the vent dropped, i watched it fall.
How ironic i thought.
It never dawned on me that i was right and there was someone in there.
I looked up, only to come face to face with something that cn only be categorized as mutant.
We stared at each other for a moment.
It was like i was in a movie, i kept waiting for someone to yell 'Cut'
It was a male, it was obvious by his bone structure.
His skin looked as if he had just swam in acid.
He wore no clothes, that i could see, his face didn't look especially horrific, but his eyes gave you enough to be scared about.
They were pitch black.
It was as if you were looking the black eyes of death himself.
I seemed paralyzed in his stare.
He bent down and reached for me.
I wanted to run.
I wanted to scream.
I wanted to do anything that get me as far away from him as possible.
But i couldn't i was the definition of 'Rag Doll'
The last thing i saw was my purse falling to the ground as he pulled me into the vent.
I left the concious world knowing that atleast i left somoen a clue that i was missing.
