hey guyshere is a new little personal illustration i did. i'm not really happy with many things about it but at this point i'd rather just let it be and move on and take it as a lesson learned

I love the low light; I've rarely seen such a dark painting that would appeal to me so much. This kind of setting hardly allows for much color but you've done a great job with that.

Nice, I think this has potential to be a really successful image. Your mark making is stellar, I'm envious. When I paint I usually attack the canvas like its on fire and I might be able to beat the image out of it!
Perhaps shifting the horizon line to be slightly lower might help. I think the character is looking over their shoulder but I can't tell. If they are that explains the way you painted the hand on the staff and now that I see the strap I see that's what you have in mind.. Nicely done though.

Knocked it outta' the park on this one dude. Great job. personally, I don't care for the rim light too much (sorry h!) I kinda like the delicate fade into darkness.

Needs a bit more rimlight.
It's kinda overused in digital painting, yes, but the rimlight should be more pronounced in this kind of light setting imo.But this is pretty good.

thanks, i did experiment with stronger rimlights, but because there is already so little interaction with the subject and the environment it resulted in the figure feeling very "pasted on". it's one of those things i couldn't really resolve because of inherent flaws in the composition, but i'm ok with it this way

Ah,I see.Maybe because the strong rimlight might look too graphic which makes it feel pasted on?I'm not sure.

nah, most stuff on tumblr is pretty random it seems. one of my (least favorite) lifedrawings got featured in that tumblr radar thing which resulted in a ridiculous amount of notes and new followers. i don't have a portfolio to send anyone yet in any case ;;
