Description
For graphic design we had to redesign an apple, heart, or star. I played around for a bit with ideas and then came across the box of old X-acto knife blades which were then married to an apple that was in my studio. The idea came mostly from the fear that people might put razor blades in the candy apples during Halloween. I think the point of this piece in general is the "Yum, I totally want to eat that apple" aspect combined with the "Owwwie! some idiot put razor blades all over this delicious apple!" aspect. One should also note that this apple is...hard... core... get it (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more)!Related content

Now, this is the apple that the queen should have given to Snow White: as soon as she took a bite, the queen would snap her fingers and this would have happened. >:3c

Bwahaha -man, that rocks! A true apple of doom. Really nicely done, too; you've merged the blades with the apple really well.

You're so ridiculous, I love it. This is such a fantastic piece. I really hope you'll recreate it for your senior show; it's very good.
~illiyun mentioned the cultural significance of apples, and that was something that was kinda nagging at the corner of my mind when I saw this last night, but I couldn't quite get it into words. So of course, now it's obvious to me. If you think about apples and their biblical ties to knowledge, and then the razors blades as pain and the effects or consequences of knowledge...it adds a whole other dimension to the piece. And of course, being the English Major that I am, I feel the need to take this even farther. The first thought for me when I saw this, was the old wives tale about children finding razor blades in an Apple that they get at Halloween, and it seems interesting now that an apple, of all things, would be the choice of disguise of such a malicious act. Seems to say something about our culture and the pervasiveness of such an idea with knowledge and temptation and the effects/consequences thereof.
Okay. Done being English Majory on my day off. Again, hunny. Very well done.

not to mention contemporary christian society dealing with the effects of original sin and ofcourse the plight of the mylasian bourgeoisie. I'm very glad that people are reading into my work for a change, though i didn't necessarily create it with that intent all of the statement are totally valid
A bif thank you to kyndelfire and everyone else who commented!

Freud would argue that consciously or not you likely did create it with the intent. That somewhere in your unconscious mind all those symbols have meaning and have come out through the creation of this fruit.
