Description
[ Most people say, "a bull in a China shop," but hey, a bull ELEPHANT is much better isn't it? Cathie made this painting because she was upset with me. Turned out to be a remarkably good painting though, I wonder why? --ed. ]Original Sumi-e. From Mar. 15, 2012. Sumi ink on shikishi board.

Textures are courtesy of peeling tree bark, probably London Plane or sycamore, I forget... and solarisation in Photoshop. Things have moved on since then.
The new cutting edge of photo mofdernism is 'symmetrical stereoscopic' photography as seen here: !

awsome!
How do you get that greyish texture for the elephant's skin?

thank you! well, the paper is sized, so I waited for the first layer of ink to dry partially and then placed another ink of a different tone on it. In Japan, the technique is called tarashikomi or dropped ink, if you want to look it up for further details

This is so beautiful! And the Chinaware patterns remind me of the keys of a piano.

Actually, in Poland we say about elephant, not about a bull in this idiom
Literally, in Polish that idiom is being used as: "to move like an elephant in a china-ware store"
