[Another Hokusai reproduction. Still trying to learn how he balances those strong calligraphic lines! Any ideas? --ed.]Reproduction of a painting by Hokusai in traditional nihonga style. From Jul. 17, 2011. Sumi ink and color on xuan.

Are you a professional? I mean do you do this for a living? I see a lot of great art like this that I think is really amazing stuff, yet it seems that often times the people creating it are labeled off as just another one in the crowd, which is kind of discouraging to me, because it would take ages of learning for me to create something like this, yet it seems that great artists like yourself are often thought to be a dime a dozen, why?

Yes I am a professional, and well I guess there will always be people who will not appreciate your work as much as we might like but I guess as long as you believe that it's worth it and you have something to say, you just keep on doing it
