I love the concept. The sugar skull is outstanding and the colors are too fun, however, I feel as if it's being drowned by the background, and doesn't get the full attention it deserves. Maybe simplifying the background a bit, and possibly toning down the color back there would make that skull 'pop' just a bit more without deviating from your original concept too much. Just my two cents.
