Duster's mother was a house cat. She lived happily with her owners until it became evident that she was carrying kits, and was thrown out. With very little survival skills, she had no where else to turn but the Clowder. This is where Duster was born, and it's all she's known.

The fluffy kit let out a huff, turning up a puff of dust. Her chin rested on the ground and her whiskers traced little tracks in the dried earth with every frustrated little movement. Honestly, she didn't mean to scare the other kits! It wasn't her fault they were afraid of a little spider! Why did she have to be punished for it? If anything, it was the spider's fault... But the spider couldn't help being a spider. Or could it? Come to think of it, she didn't remember deciding to be a cat... She'd have to ask Mother about it later, whenever she was un-punished. For now, she settled for counting the little pebbles on the floor of the nursery, pretending they were tiny, tiny little cats.
