Description As I linger on here,
Just before my demise arrives,
I stare, bewildered, at the silent crowd
In front of me

Here comes my butcher,
Dressed all in black

Only his eyes can I see,
As they burn bright darkness,
Carefully watching me

With a strong thrust of his arm
I lay my head down,
Down to my last moment of physical strife

What have I done to deserve such a barbaric end?
Accused of betrayal,
That's all he says to them,
That mislead crowd

"Off with her head!"
They all cry,
As the axe is lifted

Then it falls with a heavy "chop"
And my blood spatters the ground.....

Yeah...I don't think I'd ever want to live in that time period....

Yeah, it was way to easy to accuse someone of witchcraft - imagine just looking a bit too emo one day and having people scream "witch" at you in the streets

Actually, he divorced Katherine of Aragon, his first wife, and in doing so created a Protestant Church of England. Then, after 3 years of marriage to Anne, he beheaded her on charges of adultery, treason, and witchcraft. You were close... I'm a history nut. Something I find interesting about the execution is that Henry declared his first marriage, to Katherine, legitimate, making his and Anne's marriage invalid... and he also accused her of adultery. Small flaw in his reasoning there. Ok, I'm done now... and I also like the poem.

You've done a lot of studying on this haven't you? I'm not much of a history buff, but my mom is. I didn't want to put a whole bunch of stuff in there I didn't know, so I figured betrayal was good enough. Because if you think about it, that could mean several different things! I was thinking of adultery when I wrote it though. If you're really into this sort of thing, have you ever seen "Elizabeth"? I thought it was a good movie. I'm not so sure about all of the history being correct, but I'm sure there is at least SOME truth to the movie! Thanks!! I'm glad you liked it even though it's not completely accurate!

Well, I'd saying killing off your wife also fits nicely into "betrayal."

Yeah, I don't even remember what made me think about it. I think we briefly talked about her in my history class last year and that's why I wrote it. But honestly, my memory is not that great!!

My memory is completely dead. XD I think I might try a historical poem now. You're a really good muse. XD
