Scarcely a moan of meaningful chatter –
that's what I hear as of late.
Angst and bloodied love are the topic of choice
and my mind pounds out its frustrations
in disjointed sputters.

Optimism is a dying breed these days,
since no one can see past hurricane season.
Instead, people look to the ground
and cry because they're standing in mud,
for who will wash off their boots?

Able bodies are few and far between, it seems…

When faced with stormy seas, take action
because staring at those 100 foot waves
won't do a god-damn thing.
Be bold, be brave, and fight to stay alive.

It's our natural instincts…
and when you have nothing left,
you'd be wise to listen...
