Description
The valley of deathIs my resting place
As fallen heroes
Lay side by side,
Abandoned by cowards
And fortunate soldiers
That kept their flesh unscathed
The enemy pays no heed
To the slowly dying,
But pursues the
Flocking prey that
Gallops in disfunctional strides
Toward insecure safety
I am no famous warrior
Whose name is legend,
I'm just a forgotten casualty
Left behind in the mud,
Slowly drowning in the
Cold, heavy rain
And so these wounds,
Gaping holes in my flesh,
Torn, ragged strips of
Skin loosely hanging from
Ripped muscle,
Scream blood and
Cry rivers of slowly oozing,
Thick green-yellow puss
Until finally
The fluids will run dry
And the pain will vanish
And I will be home,
Once again...

I immediately thought of it as an anti-war poem but can be a metaphor for love, peace, etc. Very good. x) I think the gory bits work well for something like this.

I think that's mainly what I had in mind. But you're right, it can be a metaphor for all of that too! Thanks dearie!!

The biproducts of war.
For some reason-when I read and indulged upon this piece-I found myself seeing the sickening effects of a love gone wrong. Where decay and rot sets in upon the soul and the skin becomes a pitless hull.

Yeah...it's not so nice.
Really...? Interesting perspective. I shall ponder that..... ....
