Soft, round cheeksAnd long Bambie-lashes,
A cute button nose
And sweet little dimples;
Five small digits
Curled 'round a
Silver chain
Dangling from my neck,
Holding on tightly,
Unwilling to let go
Slight movements,
Like the gentle, lapping
Waves of the sea
Rocking my child
To sleep;
Drooping eye-lids
Remain closed,
Lost for the night
In the realms
Of subconscious peace
Lain to rest
On soft folds of fleace,
As my lips
Touch a soft cheek
And my finger traces
The length of her face;
Softly, I whisper:
"May gentle lullabies
And guardian angels
Keep my sweet cherub,
My beloved infant
Safe tonight."
