Description Early that July morning, Kevin got a phone call. "Rrrriiinng!! Rrrriiing!!" The phone said cheerfully. Kevin opened one eye and looked around. "Oh no." He said grumpily. He looked at the clock, it read 4:45am. "Four forty-five! Who's calling me now?" Poor Kevin is a lawyer and just got to bed three hours ago. Reluctantly, he slid out of bed and slowly went to the far corner of his room where the phone sat happily. "Hello?"
"Hey Kevin! It's me, Brian!" Kevin rolled his eyes.
"Why are you calling me at this time of night?"
"But it's not night anymore Kevin! You know that...You do know that right?" Brian giggled and Kevin sighed. "Anyway, how do you feel about going on a little road trip?"
"Ohhh no! I'm not going on another one of your little spur of the moment trips!" He pulled up a chair. This was going to take a while. On the other end Brian was cooking his breakfast.
   "Oh come on! Please!!"
"No." Kevin rolled his eyes again.
"Why not?!" Brian stomped his foot so that Kevin could hear him. "Kevin, pretty, pretty please!! I'm begging you!"
"You're acting like a five year old Brian. And you're twenty-six!"
"Twenty-five! I'm not twenty-six until tonight at nine fifty-one pm! Come on Kevin. Please...It's my birthday. And we're best friends...Couldn't you just do this for me? Your best friend since first grade." Brian smiled. This always got Kevin. The whole best friend thing got him many things he wanted from Kevin. "I'll even make you breakfast." Brian owned his own restaurant and Kevin loved the breakfast menu.
"Oh......oh all right! But if you get me into trouble like you did the last time, you're dead meat!" He made a frustrated look and then sighed. As he did this, he rubbed his eyes and slid his fingers through his dark brown hair.
"Great! Come on over and have some breadfast!"
"Okay. Bye." He hung up the phone and walked over to the blue tiled bathroom to take his shower. When he was finished, he walked into his room and closed the door behind him. He got dressed in dark blue jeans and a baggy, black shirt. Kevin wasn't fit like Brian. He was a little guy, skinny as a rail. Kevin walked out of the house and out to his car. He soon was driving up the street to Brian's house. Brian was cooking breakfast still and yelled for Kevin to come in. Brian was muscular and in shape. He is very active and often goes to the gym. They had French toast, eggs, and hashbrowns. After they had breakfast, they loaded things into Brian's car and headed off. Only Brian knew where they were going. "So where exactly are we going?" Kevin asked suspiciously. Brain laughed a little.
"Oh....I thought we could go to Niagra Falls."
   "WHAT! But that's in Canada!"
"Only half of if actually. Don't worry! It'll be fun!" Kevin shook his head.
"That's what you said the last time! You know, when you took me to Mexico! You told me we were going to the beach! I fell asleep and when I woke up, we were in Tennessee!" Brian giggled. "That wasn't funny!" Kevin made an annoyed face.
"Oh yes it was! Heeheeheehee! I even got a picture of you sleeping too! Hahahahaha!" He turned on the radio and put a tape in. It was Ray Stevens. Both of them laughed. Brian loved Ray Stevens and got Kevin hooked on it too. They started to sing. "Hey look! Is that snow?" Brian asked.
"I think so. It's colder up north than it is back home." They were up in the hills and the clouds were all around them. Before, they had passed some farms and ranches and looked out of the car windows in awe. They lived in the city, so they rarely saw cows and horses. Up in the hills, there were thick forests of wildlife and huge jagged peeks of rock towering above them. The rock was a mixture of red and gray. Smooth and bumpy roads carried them to their final destination. They finally arrived to Niagra Falls.
"Come on! Let's go look at the falls!" Brian said eagerly. "Maybe we can stick our feet in the water!" He jumped up and down.
"I don't think so Brian. They won't let you and even if they did, that water is moving too fast; you would get pulled in." Kevin put his had on Brian's shoulder to stop him from bouncing.
"That could be fun!" He smiled.
"Not if you drown!" Kevin stopped. He knew Brian was just joking with him. Then he smiled and shook his head. "You weirdo!" They were walking along the side of the river when Brian spotted something.
   "That's odd........." He looked perplexed.
"What? Oh. Should we tell someone about this?" Kevin looked over at Brian and was surprised. Brian had a huge grin on his face that was a bit scary. Kevin raised one eyebrow.
"No, I don't think we should. I think we should get into that barrel there and ride down the river!" Kevin's jaw dropped as his brown eyes opened wide.
"What! Are you crazy! I am NOT getting in that river! No way!" Brian's smile got larger. It looked like his face was going to split in two.
   "Oh really?"
   "Yes!" Kevin backed away quickly.
"Oh fine! But how about I get in the barrel and you take a picture of me! We'll make it look like I'm falling in!" Kevin stared at him.
"You are nuts! Well...all right. Just be careful." Brian moved the barrel over to the edge and climbed in. Kevin took the picture. He was helping Brian out when the whole thing tipped over and fell into the river; with Brian still inside and Kevin holding on for dear life! "Oh no!! Now what are we going to do?! This is all your fault!" Kevin looked around for someone, anyone to scream help to.
"No it wasn't! You pushed us in!"
"I did not! The stupid barrel tipped over! You were the one who just HAD to get a picture of yourself in the barrel!" He saw someone and waved. "Hey! You! Help us please! Call nine, one, one!" When the police arrived, Brian and Kevin were almost to the edge of the falls. A crowd of people had gathered and were watching anxiously. Some took pictures while others just watched and made a commotion. All the while, the two friends were bickering about who's fault it was. "It was your fault!" Kevin pronounced loudly with an angry tone.
"No, it was yours!" Brian replied snappily. But it was no use arguing now. The barrel was going over the falls. Both of them screamed. But there was no need! The police were out on the bottom of the falls in a boat with a huge net that caught them both. "I will never do anything so stupid again." Brian said as they dried off inside.
"Yeah, but I bet we'll be on tv!" They both laughed and headed out the door.
"Let's go to the gift shop! You still haven't gotten me a birthday present!" Kevin looked at him and smiled.
"Happy birthday Brian. How about I buy us some dinner? I have your birthday present back at my house. I'll bring it over tomorrow."
"Sure! That's fine with me! Heeheehee! I love birthdays!" They both laughed as they walked into the gift shop. After dinner, they went back to their own houses and slept through the whole night. Without any early morning phone calls!

More like a definite positive on that one. But I still love you! And I do realize that you'd never wake me up at 4am....because if you ever did, you'd be dead. <--- Just like that.

Thanks!!! I didn't actually realize that the characters were really me and Cari, until I read through it. It was so strange because I wasn't even thinking of taking bits and pieces from our personalities. LoL!!
