Description
If humanity VANISHEDwas VACUUMED into s p a c e,
life would go on
and on
and on...
We don't matter
Vines would strangle skyscrapers,
trees would r a c concrete

The w

our
mess
away...
The r

n would cleanse the land
and chase away human corruption to the
coldest depths of the oceans...
Animals would secure their places
once more -- humans wouldn't be
able to MESS IT UP...
We aren't so special
The Earth knows this...
Cycles continue to change --
no one sticks around forever...
We don't matter... we don't...

So true.
A lot of people just can't think that the Earth wouldn't miss us if we're gone.
Though, it's interesting to note that if insects were to disappear, we'd all be dead in a decade.

Exactly! In terms of importance, we're nowhere near the top of the list.

very interesting.
I'd like to think we matter as a race, but we are also very destructive, so you certainly have a point.
I love the format, the visual play on the words... very cool

Thank you!
I tend to think about what we, as a species, have to offer the planet and find that most of the things we do offer mainly benefits ourselves. I'm not saying that I'm not grateful for life and that I want us all to die. I'm just saying that in the grand scheme of things, I don't think it would greatly impair life on Earth if we weren't here. But, that's just my own personal opinion.
Thanks again! I'm glad you liked the format! I usually don't mess around with the visual side of poetry, but I wanted to do something different with this poem, so I'm glad the effect is a positive one!
