Description On the playground with the
gritty sand shifting in my sneakers
as my hands grow blisters
from swinging on the monkey bars
that bake in the sun,
I observe the others
from atop the skeletal jungle-gym.

You found me then
as I ducked under a metal limb
then crept over the next -
'round and 'round the spherical
box, lost in my own thoughts
of things I've long since forgotten.

The high-pitched shrieks of laughter
of the other children were lost
somewhere in the background
between the faint breeze rustling
the honeysuckle and the sun
keeping time with the waves of heat
on my back, soaking into my hair.

           "Wanna play?"
would register when nothing else did,
not the sounds of the other kids,
nor the feel of the sun on my skin,
not even the mingled scents
of sweet honeysuckle, dry sand,
and hot metal - tangy and bitter.

Your soft, innocent inquiry
created everything...

Aw this is very sweet; I can tell it's sentimental without reading the "author's comments." Funny how meetings like that happen..
