Description
I watch as sheclimbs into a hole
then pulls it in after her,
saving happiness for
another day -
because today is just
too painful
Sorrow, agony, stress,
and anxiety congeal
into a stew of emotions
swirling about this now
vacant cup of oxygen,
and my fists pound the air
she once occupied as they
try to reach behind
that invisible sphere
protecting her sobs
How I wish my arms
could reach her,
reassure her that
she isn't alone - lost
like a child in the
dark forest

This was painful read after putting the pieces together this summer and realizing that my Mom has been battling depression for as along as I can remember.
It's hard to watch someone suffer so much, when I know that she's been there for me through every failed test, scraped knee or bad day.
It's not that I can pull her out of the hole, all I can do is toss down a ladder and encourage her from the top of hole.
Beautifully written and emotionally captivating.

I hope you mom gets better! And I'm sure any encouragement you can give her would mean so much to her, even if it's the only thing you can do.
My mom's had some health problems this year and she's been very stressed, so that's where this poem came from. It really is hard to watch someone you care about suffer.
I'm glad you like the poem though!
