Such a waste:
letting melodious minds
slip from sight,
dampened and heavy
like water-logged soil.
The music must flow,
must find some outlet
from the soul's womb
and be brought, singing,
into this world;
it mustn't die unheard
like a miscarried child
that gives no cry, draws
no breath.

My soul is the music, my
heart the metronome
slowly keeping time.
Don't let my soul dim
into the darkness,
returning to a void
where bitter silence
consumes my melody,
where all my hopes
are slashed through
by claws of rejection!

Bring me into being;
place me in harmony's arms
so I may play my part.
Save me from a life
of silence, cramped in
stuffy cubicles and
dead fields of hope,
and position me under
white lights before
the awaiting crowd!
