Description
I glimpse the first embers of morninglinger in the Eastern sky,
and watch as birds' wings embrace the light.
If I stretched out my hand,
I could grab hold of the sun itself;
I could run the path of the horizon,
it seems so close.
The vast valley is revived - a temple
lit with buttercup candles flickering
in the breeze.
Rustling tall grasses sing their sweet melodies,
calling the Earth to waken and rejoice Apollo's return.
My eyes watch the lazy shadows embrace the wind
and dance across the trees.
Dawn has kissed the Earth with its
liquid-gold lips.
It is the beginning - the eternal spark.

Great alliteration in "The vast valley is revived". I also love the imagery of buttercup candles. And "watch the lazy shadows embrace the wind" IS rather sonorous, isn't it?

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
It's kinda funny though...I tend to make use of alliteration and other sound effects in my writing without even thinking about it.

I do too. I have a friend who's an English teacher. He asked me the other day if I included alliteration deliberately. I was like, "Heck, no, dude. Half the time I don't even notice until I go back and reread it." That was about the time he put his head in his hands...

Lol, yeah, for some reason, people just don't understand accidental alliteration. When I was an English major (focusing on poetry), lots of people asked me if I included alliteration deliberately...I think they were surprised to hear that I didn't.
Generally speaking, I don't notice it until someone brings it to my attention...

For some of us I believe it's an ear thing. We hear it and instinctively know it's right.
