Description As I walk down the steady path of death,
I see the times I loved and lived.
But those days are gone
As I slowly silp into oblivion.

My demise is long and hard,
My limbs feel like they're being sliced into pieces,
My wounds fester with thick, discolored puss, oozing down my sides.

No being can save me now
As I die amongst the scattered corpses
That were left behind.

My crimson blood stains the brown, muddy earth
And mixes with the rain
As cold sweat lies on my brow.

I die in this field,
This place of death and woe,
Where men fought men
To gain control.

My body now stiff
Is just one more,
One more death
In a sea of corpses.
And the dirt shall take me,
It will bury me below
Where the soil is pure
And not touched by woe.

I love this! It's perfect- it's like someone stuck between the realms of the living and the dead, this person who can see his dying body and then see his spiritual future.

And I like how you make it a nameless soldier, which says this isn't anyone "special" dying, but one of the many. It's good. :>

Imma note you, because I just got an idea. XD

Thank you!! I don't know what really inspired me to write this. It was one of those things that just pop into your head when you're not really doing anything that's out of the ordinary. But I'm really glad with the outcome. I'd say it's probably one of my best poems.

There's no wonder why. :> Sometimes the best things come out of nowhere!

Yeah. I think it's neat when that happens.
