Description
The world is a wonderful placeatop its majestic throne...
until you see it from far below
that proud jawline,
down on the cold, rough ground
where homeless find reassurance
from the bottle and the
click-clicking of heels,
the thudding of heavy (almost oppressed)
footsteps, the pitter-patter of young dreams
travel among the half-dead,
finding solace in the hope of better days to come.
In truth, the world is a
big-game hunter and we,
the game in the wilderness.
Our pulses rising and falling
when danger draws near
echoes in the Earth's core
and sends giddy shivers
through the atmosphere,
rippling out on the waves of the seas.
The glory of a moment's peace
is smashed to pieces
like a vase knocked to the floor
and we run, sprinting on rocky ground
as the chase begins with our hearts
lodged in our throats and our minds
frantically trying to grip the safety bar
on this roller-coaster of bad karma.
But who can outsmart this
cunning hunter?
Who can finagle their way
out of the inevitable?
All in all, we can only run
as fast as our feet will fly
and pray they won't trip,
stumble, or get caught
in a trap like flies in
a spider's web,
leaving us helpless to this hunter's
gruesome future plans.
Indeed, if caught, we're nothing
but taxidermy animals,
stuffed and hung to the wall
in this world's large museum
of precious treasures
long since lost...
