Description
Blood turns to flames
beneath my skin as
it sluggishly rages throughout
my body,
burning me alive
with sorrow as I
hide between a rock
and a hard place,
unable to escape underground
to smother the fire.

The liquid burn fills my
organs, traveling upwards
to grip my throat,
choking me with
black smoke
'till my voice vacates
its chords
and I'm left with
gags and gasps for air.

Searing heat builds behind
my eyes like claws
shredding fresh flesh
and I bite my
tongue,
holding back these
traitorous tears...
