Description
Standing amidst the drifting flakes
settling themselves against the ground,
I marvel at their delicate beauty...

The cold tufts of snow tango
in the wind and applaud the
silent music: their clicking heals
only a faint hiss in the background.

Some land softly on my face,
bestowing tender kisses to my cheeks
that swiftly turn to diamond droplets
trickling off my chin;
others cling to my chestnut locks,
crowning my mane like a wreath of
white ivy.

In this paradise of snow,
I wish silently...
and, raising my lashes skyward,
I pray someone might hear me.

The cold wind stirs my hair
and bids me follow the same path;
my eyes wander the winter landscape -
across the crystal trees,
past the lily-white shrubs,
down to the snow-covered earth
where, peaking bravely above it,
four little, green leaves I spy.

My gaze shifts heavenwards once more
and a tear drifts down my cheek...

Then I smile as I
pluck the clover from
its nest of snow...
