Ohanzee woke up with his head hurting. The normally quite canine looking male didn’t remember what had happened in the night other than him having this bad nightmare. He carefully opened his eyes not wanting his headache to worsen and he saw nothing out of the ordinary at first. He was lying below a old fallen oak tree just inches from the ground on the other side and other side laying on a moss covered boulder.

He tried lifting his head but was met with a light resistance as he pulled with the same strength as you usually do as you’re familiar with your own body and the usual weight of the head. This time it was heavier than normally, and he pulled his head up. The feeling was truly strange. As he turned his head from side to side, he felt something on top of his head. Ohanzee lifted his paw to try his head to feel what was there, but he was met with a hoof instead of his paw. Taken aback he slowly turned his head to see his whole body and he was met with an alarming sight. His body had turned to one of a deer, but his colouring had stayed the same. His dark grey striped back, light brown sides and cream coloured stomach had not changed but his normally long and fluffy tail had turned to a short stub. His big and long clawed paws had turned to light coloured split deer hooves and his ears had grown larger and longer. Ohanzee opened his mouth and licked his teeth and he touched smooth teeth great for eating plants. To him it felt like he had been robbed of his weapons, his sharp canine teeth were turned to those of a deer. He let out a whine.

When he had done enough sulking, he gathered his strength and rose to his now very slim feet. At first, he had hard time staying up with his new body and the weight on his head that he now assumed was a rack of anthers that he hadn’t had a chance to see yet. He very carefully rose from his hide and limped legs shaking forward. He turned his ears to hear if there was anyone close that could help him, but for now he didn’t hear anything and he felt alone, but also safe as he realised that he was now nothing but a piece of walking stake in the eyes of predators.

Slowly he got more used to walking with his new legs and he found himself to a small puddle of water in the forest and helped himself. As he drunk the cold water, he suddenly heard something nearing him and he quickly rose his head and looked around. Tensing up and preparing to run his muscles tightened in his feet but he relaxed as he recognised the newcomer. A brown young deer came skipping from among the trees and a relieved smile painted Ohanzee‘s face. It was his spirit animal and he was safe. He quickly moved to the deer’s side and greeted it with a smile. It would get easier from here and Ohanzee was sure the deer would know what to do. If not, at least he’d have someone to talk to about it.

At first i tried to go whole bambi route, but then i just realised that i don't know how to do it and i opted out with a mix of bambi and my own style. I think it still turned out pretty great.
