Lets get right into it. I actually think the background is great! off to a good start.... It looks unfinished but you worked with it by completely blurring it out making it almost look intentional 
The characters posing and their outfits are one the strongest parts of this piece. I love the slight bow the shorter character is in it seems they are submissive to the taller one. I dont watch this show but I know that its a brightly colored series made in flash mixed with gore. Why not incorporate that? try playing around with the shading. instead of shading with grey or brown, try red or blue or even green! same goes for the background img13.deviantart.net/123d/i/20… if you look carefully, the show uses weird unnatural colors to effect the mood of the show. (that tree trunk is a bluish grey. it has a bit of color in it to inhance the mood)

I saw the technique with the blurring in a speedpaint video, but the artist did it differently and now my background doesn't look like planned. But whatever, I'm glad you liked it. And I guess without practice I'm not getting anywhere
The shading is something for which I'm never quite sure what to do, but I think stronger colors in for shading would have given the Picture a nicer effect. Thanks for pointing it out^^
