Description
Yes! It finally warmed up yesterday enough so I could head out for some photos! My sister actually helped me with this, well, she carried my truck out, but I must giver her credit! Thanks Rebekah!Okay, I had really big plans for this scene which completely failed miserably. The original concept as suggested by =Queen-of-Randomness (Thanks!) was an ice rescue pic. Anyway, I was going to have a horse in the water with a bunch of people trying to get it out, so I walked all the way down to the little pond, slipped and fell on me bum twice and got caught in a fence once only to find that the pond was completely frozen, like two foot thick frozen. So, determined that I wasn't going to go back with nothing, I sat down on a snow drift and went over what I could do with the models I brought. And thus, this was born. I guess the horse in the snow fell down a cliff-like-thing and got stuck in the snow. So, the people sped out there with rope and dogs (because we love dogs) and are in the process of rescuing the horse. You might wonder why the black horse doesn't have a proper harness. I didn't use one cause I wanted to further stress the time constraint, where they needed to get the horse out of the snow fast if they wanted to save it. So, I made a makeshift collar thing out of rope like they just threw it together in a hurry, so there ya go!
Anyway, I'm not too happy with it. The bank is a lot steeper than it appears in this pic and because the set is so wide, I had to back up a lot to get the whole thing making the models look small and well, like models! Whoa! I'm my own worst critic, huh? Well, thanks for looking!!!

I saw this and I was like "Oh my Gawd I hope that horse is okay!" And then I realised that it was Breyer. It looks great, can I make my own version of it? Please?

Wonderful. Yet, I think what would've worked better is the black horse having tack on, like someone was riding along when they discovered the horse? Hehe.

OK, here it is, if you do another pic like this one, trying to save a horse thats falling, put a "rope" around its i guess you could say bottom, go under the tail so that it looks like they managed toget the rope there when the horse was swishing its tail.
Does this make sense?

Totally, I got it! That's a good idea so it doesn't look like the poor horsey is being choked!
Thanks, I'll defiantly keep that in mind.

I actually really like this photo. The composition is terrific and I think the distance from which you took it is just fine. The features on the humans arent very distinguishable, which I think is a good effect on this photo, because of you were closer, you could tell they were dolls. But overall, I think this is a very strong photograph.

Oh! Thank you so much! I guess the distance isn't all that bad then, I still wish I had a camera that took wider shots now and then, but I think I do pretty well.

i especially like that the "harness" is just rope it really does make it seem like they were in more of a hurry...perhaps their barn doesnt have any harnesses anyway because they dont use that disapline...i know my barn doesnt and i have a hard time finding places that do have harness...i want to learn to drive lol

I faved this in my giftart collection folder; 'cause my ideas aren't used often.
This is such a nice shot! I particularly like the wide-angle setup you got here. The depth of field is pretty great, too!

Catwink I don't know what you are talking about, I think it looks amazing, and my mom just glanced over and said, 'oh my, how did the horse get down there'...so she was convinced it was real for like a minute. So good job, and don't be so hard on yourself.
