Description
The Clotted are artificially created monsters made using the cruelest kind of black magic. A person- preferably a young, innocent virgin- is murdered. Its soul is forcibly kept in its body so it cannot leave to its afterlife, and tortured. Torturing usually involves exposing the soul to traumatically hellish forces (demons and whatnot) to confuse and dement it. The body can then distend into monsterous forms (defensive and violent adaptions fueld by vengence, anger, hatred, and fear) and new senses can awaken.

The resulting creature can be used for various tasks. One such mode invovles stabbing the Clotted with angel feathers. These act like a scent source (like those given to hounds to seek prey) or a lure (aka carrot-on-a-string) to enable the Clotted to seek out things like pure souls, holy relics, and angelic forces. The soul inside the monster, being starved from a heavenly afterlife, hunt its prey relentlessly. They're unstoppable at such a task.

The Clotted are volatile and dangerous beasts. Supplemental magic must usually be done to ensure their bodies don't break down, and their lack of any shred of intelligence make them just as likely to harm their creators as their victims.
