Description This is the Windows 7 flag from the RTM wallpaper.

For use as a start button.

To use: Use with Windows 7 Start Button Changer by ~kishan-bagaria

For x64 Systems, if you get an error, just ignore it and use it anyway; there is no risk in ignoring that error.

You don't need "Reboot or Log off required"
Just pres CTRL+ALT+Delete and select "Start task manager" and go to "Processes" and find Explorer.exe click "End Process" and now same windows click "File"
"New Task (Run..)" and enter "explorer" and enter and done no restart need.

Now ur windows will be change to new explorer

Well i extracted these from the installation DVD, so its the explorer that comes with a clean install.

Some programs like WinRAR, or Office 2007/2010 change explorer so im not sure if it would effectit.

i see RTM everywhere what does that mean i have a official windows 7 ultimate will this work its a 32bit version

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cclloyd9785 In reply to wallybescotty [2010-01-28 21:01:10 +0000 UTC]

RTM is an acronym for 'Release to Manufacturer'. Its just the pre-public release version of Windows 7. They are both the exact same build if you updated it once it came out in stores.

Yes it should work.

If I were to send you my own explorer.exe (64bit) do you think you could send me a patched file with the colored flag and another with the white flag?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cclloyd9785 In reply to redemblem101 [2010-01-21 19:43:41 +0000 UTC]

yea i could. Thats probobly why. When you install programs, explorer.exe is usually changed, for example: when it add items to the context menu.

Wow... NICE work. It really is precisely what I was looking for. I am having some trouble though;

If I try to use your bmp then the image is off-centered and does not change with the mouseover/click effect.

Also, I don't seem to be able to use my system's explorer.exe with your respatcher. Do you think this could be because I'm using the 16385 version of explorer.exe?

cclloyd9785 In reply to redemblem101 [2010-01-21 01:58:31 +0000 UTC]

I am not sure. I used it from the Install.wim from my retail installation that had Home Premium x86 and x64. I will look into that.

I guarantee this will all be a lot more compatible once SP1 comes out in May, because everyone will have the same build.

redemblem101 [2010-01-21 00:05:45 +0000 UTC]

would you mind doing two things?

The first would be could you please convert this .png to a .bmp? That would allow me to use this on my x64

The second thing would be could you desaturate the image or something so that we could have a white version of this flag?

type system information then choose the one called system information.

After it loads, look for the item "System Type". It will say either x86 based PC or x64 based pc.

I just remembered, it might not be safe to just send you explorer.exe as some installed programs such as WinRAR or 7Zip edit explorer and its context menus. If you want it i need you to send me explorer again, then ill send it back to you (Via Note on DA)

Hi, first of all i would like to say i appreciate your work very much.

I am using the 32bit version of the RC win7 and yet i get the same problem as nitrion; "explorer.exe is not the right file to patch (or different version) (while reading explorer.exe...)".
Please advise.
thanking you in advance

no it does not. If you want to give me the explorer.exe for the x64 bit windows, i can make that happen.

nitroin [2009-10-04 21:05:07 +0000 UTC]

First, Thanks for the reply!

I just tried the procedure u said.

Now restoretor is givin' me a different statement: "explorer.exe is not the right file to patch (or different version) (while reading explorer.exe...)"

I'm running Win7 RTM 7600 64bit, maybe is the main problem here?

So, if yes, can you patch my linked explorer.exe?

[link]

Thx!

nitroin [2009-10-04 13:40:04 +0000 UTC]

Hi! Very cool button but...

...I've a little problem here!

When I double click the .exe with administrator privileges, restoretor give me an error:

Could not overwrite explorer.exe (while writing...)

Can u help me? Thx

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cclloyd9785 In reply to nitroin [2009-10-04 15:29:15 +0000 UTC]

if you have that error then just copy explorer.exe to any other place, patch it, then move it back to the windows folder after renaming the original explorer.
